BIBLE STUDY—Trumpets – Day of the LORD Events
1) Introduction
a) The Day of Trumpets brings to mind many vivid descriptions, thanks to the book of Revelation written by the apostle John. While it is called the Day of Trumpets, it is impossible for the sum total of all of those events to be concluded on a single day. It is a sequence that will unfold over the span of a year:
i) ISAIAH 34:8 For it is the day of the LORD’s vengeance, the year of recompense for the cause of Zion.
b) The Day of the LORD is part of the Seven Seals described in Revelation. The first six seals pertain to the Great Tribulation, not the Day of the LORD, which is the vengeance of God. The Seventh Seal contains the Seven Trumpets that announce the phases of vengeance of God during the Day of the LORD.
c) NOTE: References to angels are highlighted green and the main point of a verse is highlighted in yellow.
2) The Seventh Seal is the Seven Trumpets
a) REVELATION 8:1-6 When He [Jesus Christ] opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. 2 And I [John] saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets. 3 Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand. 5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake. 6 So the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.
i) Jesus Christ is the only one who can open the seals:
1) REVELATION 5:5 But one of the elders said to me [John], “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.”
2) The Root of David is Jesus Christ:
a) REVELATION 22:16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the ekklesia. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”
ii) The seven trumpets are all part of the last and Seventh Seal.
b) SUMMARY:
i) Trumpets #1 through #4 destroy much of the earth and darken the the sun, moon, and stars. The last three trumpets, Trumpet #5, #6, and #7, are three woes because they are the vengeance of God directed against mankind. Trumpet #5 and the first part of Trumpet #6 torture and kill many of mankind by the hand of Satan. The last part of Trumpet #6 punishes Jerusalem (Israel). Trumpet #7 is executed as Seven Vial plagues that punish and destroy Babylon.
c) TRUMPET #1—1/3 OF TREES & ALL GRASS BURNED
i) REVELATION 8:7 The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.
d) TRUMPET #2—1/3 OF SEALIFE DIES & 1/3 OF SHIPS DESTROYED
i) REVELATION 8:8-9 Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood. 9 And a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.
e) TRUMPET #3—1/3 OF RIVERS & SPRINGS POISONED CAUSING MANY PEOPLE TO DIE
i) REVELATION 8:10-11 Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. 11 The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter.
f) TRUMPET #4—1/3 OF THE SUN, MOON, STARS DARKENED FOR 1/3 OF THE DAY & 1/3 OF THE NIGHT
i) REVELATION 8:12 Then the fourth angel sounded: And a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. A third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night.
3) THE LAST THREE TRUMPETS ARE THREE WOES
a) REVELATION 8:13 And I looked, and I [John] heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, “Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound!”
b) TRUMPET #5 (WOE #1)—A DEMON KING & HIS ARMY OF DEMONS RELEASED FROM THE ABYSS TO TORTURE MANKIND 5 MONTHS
i)
REVELATION 9:1-12 Then the fifth angel
sounded: And I [John] saw a star fallen from heaven
to the earth. To him was given the key to the bottomless pit. 2
And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit
like the smoke of a great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because
of the smoke of the pit. 3 Then out of the smoke locusts came
upon the earth. And to them was given power [authority], as the
scorpions of the earth have power [authority]. 4 They were
commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree,
but only [hurt] those men who do
not have the seal of God on their foreheads. 5 And they were not given authority to kill them, but to
torment them for five months. Their torment was
like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man. 6 In those days men will
seek death and will not find it; they will desire to die, and death will flee
from them. 7 The shape of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle. On
their heads were crowns of something like gold, and their faces were
like the faces of men. 8 They had hair like women’s hair, and their teeth were
like lions’ teeth. 9 And they had breastplates like breastplates of
iron, and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with
many horses running into battle. 10 They had tails like scorpions, and there
were stings in their tails.
Their power [authority] was to hurt men five months. 11 And they had as king over
them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon,
but in Greek he has the name Apollyon. 12 One woe is
past. Behold, still two more woes are coming after these things.
1) The army of demons that TORTURES mankind for five months is led by a demon who is King of the Abyss named “Destroyer” (not Satan).
2) Description: Army of locusts whose appearance was like horses prepared for battle. The soldiers had crowns of gold; faces of men; hair of women; teeth of lions; breastplates of iron; wings; and stinging tails like scorpions.
c) TRUMPET #6 (WOE #2)—FOUR DEMONS WITH AN ARMY OF 200 MILLION RELEASED TO KILL 1/3 OF MANKIND
i) REVELATION 9:13-21 Then the sixth angel sounded: And I [John] heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, 14 saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.” 15 So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind. 16 Now the number of the army of the horsemen [cavalry] was two hundred million; I heard the number of them. 17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision: those who sat on them had breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow; and the heads of the horses were like the heads of lions; and out of their mouths came fire, smoke, and brimstone. 18 By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed–by the fire and the smoke and the brimstone which came out of their mouths. 19 For their power is in their mouth and in their tails; for their tails are like serpents, having heads; and with them they do harm. 20 But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk. 21 And they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.
1) Four demons lead an army of 200 million demons to KILL 1/3 of mankind.
2) Description: Cavalry of soldiers on horseback with breastplates of red, blue, yellow. Horses have lion heads spewing fire and brimstone and serpent tails with ‘heads’.
3) Some speculate that this is an army of humans and John used animals to describe them because he did not know how to describe modern warfare equipment. There are, however, several reasons why these are likely demons:
a) The Beast is given authority from Satan (Rev. 13:2) and will have “authority over every tribe and language and nation” (Rev. 13:7) so it makes little sense that four demons would employ a human army to kill 1/3 of the kingdom of the Beast. Satan would be warring against himself.
b) It is doubtful that John would confuse machinery with live animals. Vehicles have wheels, which would be better described as chariots rather than horses—John certainly knew the difference. Also, a modern gun or cannon would be better described as a flaming spear or arrow, not a ‘tail’.
c) There are similarities with the demonic army from the bottomless pit (Trumpet #5) including horses, breastplates, lion-like features, and tails that inflict harm.
d) God uses the Beast system to punish Israel during the first four seals but His vengeance is now against the Beast. If a wicked human army takes vengeance upon wicked people, when is the human army punished?
e) Logistically, it is all but impossible for a human army of 200 million to be provided the necessary food, transportation, and resupply of weapons, ammo, and fuel. For example, an army of 100,000 in WW2 required almost 10 support men for every single soldier. That means that an army of 200 million would require 2 BILLION logistical personnel for support, resupply, and transportation.
4) TRUMPET #6 CONTINUES IN CHAPTERs 10 & 11
a) REVELATION 11:14 The second woe is past. Behold, the third woe is coming quickly.
i) Revelation 11:14 records that Trumpet #6 continues in chapter 10 until chapter 11 and verse 13. It appears to be directed against Jerusalem (Israel).
b) TRUMPET #6 (WOE #2)—THE SEVEN THUNDERS ARE SPOKEN BUT NOT RECORDED
i) REVELATION 10:1-4 I [John] saw still another mighty angel coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud. And a rainbow was on his head, his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire. 2 He had a little book open in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land, 3 and cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roars. When he cried out, seven thunders uttered their voices. 4 Now when the seven thunders uttered their voices, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Seal up the things which the seven thunders uttered, and do not write them.”
1) The seven thunders might be punishments against Israel. See Rev. 11:1-2.
c) TRUMPET #6 (WOE #2)—MYSTERY (SECRET) IS COMPLETED
i) REVELATION 10:5-7 The angel whom I [John] saw standing on the sea and on the land raised up his hand to heaven 6 and swore by Him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things that are in it, the earth and the things that are in it, and the sea and the things that are in it, that there should be delay no longer, 7 but in the days of the sounding of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, the mystery of God would be finished [completed], as He declared to His servants the prophets.
1) Paul mentions victory over death completes a mystery, literally a secret, during Trumpet #7:
2) 1 CORINTHIANS 15:51-57 Behold, I [Paul] tell you a mystery [secret]: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed– 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last [seventh] trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass [finished] the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” 55 “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
d) TRUMPET #6 (WOE #2)—JOHN EATS THE LITTLE BOOK
i) REVELATION 10:8-11 Then the voice which I [John] heard from heaven spoke to me again and said, “Go, take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel who stands on the sea and on the earth.” 9 So I went to the angel and said to him, “Give me the little book.” And he said to me, “Take and eat it; and it will make your stomach bitter, but it will be as sweet as honey in your mouth.” 10 Then I took the little book out of the angel’s hand and ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth. But when I had eaten it, my stomach became bitter. 11 And he said to me, “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings.”
1) The book could be the prophecy delivered during the end-times.
e) TRUMPET #6 (WOE #2)—TEMPLE MEASURED & THE TEMPLE OUTER COURT & JERUSALEM TRAMPLED BY GENTILES 42 MONTHS
i) REVELATION 11:1-2 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. 2 But the court which is without [around, outside] the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city [Jerusalem] shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
1) The outer court and Jerusalem are trampled by the Gentiles for 42 months, which obviously began before the Day of Trumpets and continues into Trumpet #6.
f) TRUMPET #6 (WOE #2)—THE TWO WITNESSES PROPHESY, ARE KILLED, & RESURRECTED AFTER 3-1/2 DAYS
i)
REVELATION 11:3-12 “And I [Jesus Christ] will give power
[authority] to my two witnesses,
and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days,
clothed in sackcloth.” 4 These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands
standing before the God of the earth. 5 And if anyone wants to harm them, fire
proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to
harm them, he must be killed in this manner. 6 These have power [authority]
to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy; and they
have power [authority] over waters to turn them to blood,
and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire. 7 When
they finish their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit [Abaddon
or Apollyon—Rev. 9:1-12] will make war against them, overcome them, and kill them. 8 And their dead bodies will
lie in the street of the great city [Jerusalem] which spiritually is
called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. 9 Then those
from the peoples, tribes, tongues, and nations will see their dead bodies
three-and-a-half days, and not allow their dead bodies to be put into graves.
10 And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make merry, and
send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell
on the earth. 11 Now after the
three-and-a-half days the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood
on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them. 12 And
they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And they ascended to heaven in a cloud,
and their enemies saw them.
1) The two witnesses prophesy for 1,260 days so they began before the Day of Trumpets but continue until they are killed.
g) TRUMPET #6 (WOE #2)—GREAT EARTHQUATE IN JERUSALEM
i) REVELATION 11:13 In the same hour [when the two witnesses ascended] there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city [Jerusalem] fell. In the earthquake seven thousand people were killed, and the rest [rest of the people in Jerusalem] were afraid and gave glory to the God of heaven.
1) 1/10 of Jerusalem collapses. Jerusalem is under the control of Gentiles.
5) TRUMPET #7 Begins in Revelation 11:15
a) TRUMPET #7 (WOE #3)—ANNOUNCEMENT THAT GOD & CHRIST REIGN OVER THE WORLD
i) REVELATION 11:15-17 Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord [God the Father] and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” 16 And the twenty-four elders who sat before God on their thrones fell on their faces and worshiped God, 17 saying: “We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty, The One who is and who was and who is to come, Because You have taken Your great power and reigned.
1) The first event of Trumpet #7 is when God the Father and Jesus Christ take over all the kingdoms of this earth.
b) TRUMPET #7 (WOE #3)— ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE COMING JUDGMENT
i) REVELATION 11:18 The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come, And the time of the dead, that they should be judged, And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints, And those who fear Your name, small and great, And should destroy those who destroy the earth.”
c) TRUMPET #7 (WOE #3)— OPENING OF THE HEAVENLY TEMPLE
i) REVELATION 11:19 Then the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple. And there were lightnings, noises, thunderings, an earthquake, and great hail.
1) The Temple is opened even unto the Holy of Holies where the ark resides.
2) Occurs in Rev. 15:5.
6) REVELATION 12—HISTORY OF THE EKKLESIA
7) REVELATION 13—DESCRIPTION of THE TWO BEASTS
a) First beast rises from the sea.
b) Second beast rises from the earth.
8) Events That Precede the Seven Vials of the Seventh Trumpet
a) 144,000 FIRSTFRUIT SAINTS
i) REVELATION 14:1-5 Then I [John] looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father’s name written on their foreheads. 2 And I heard a voice from heaven, like the voice of many waters, and like the voice of loud thunder. And I heard the sound of harpists playing their harps. 3 They sang as it were a new song before the throne, before the four living creatures, and the elders; and no one could learn that song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth. 4 These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb. 5 And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of God.
b) ANGEL PREACHES THE GOSPEL TO THE WORLD
i) REVELATION 14:6-7 Then I [John] saw another angel [first of three angels] flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth–to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people– 7 saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”
c) ANGEL PRONOUNCES VENGEANCE UPON BABYLON & THOSE WITH THE MARK OF THE BEAST
i) REVELATION 14:8-11 And another angel [second of three angels] followed, saying, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” 9 Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 “he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented [tortured] with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 “And the smoke of their torment [torture] ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”
1) Those with the mark of the Beast are tortured (not killed) with fire and brimstone. The smoke is from the pain of their TORMENT, not death.
d) ANGEL ANNOUNCES THE REAPING OF SAINTS
i) REVELATION 14:12-16 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. 13 Then I [John] heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ “ “Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.” 14 Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and on the cloud sat One like the Son of Man, having on His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle. 15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, “Thrust in Your sickle and reap, for the time has come for You to reap, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.” 16 So He who sat on the cloud thrust in His sickle on the earth, and the earth was reaped.
e) ANGEL ANNOUNCES THE REAPING OF THE WICKED
i)
REVELATION 14:17-20 Then another
angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having
a sharp sickle. 18 And another angel
came out from the altar, who had power [authority] over fire, and
he cried with a loud cry to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, “Thrust in
your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, for her
grapes are fully ripe.” 19 So the angel thrust his sickle into the earth and gathered the
vine of the earth, and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of
God. 20 And the winepress was trampled outside the city, and
blood came out of the winepress, up to the horses’ bridles, for one thousand
six hundred furlongs.
1) The reaping is the vengeance of God executed by the Vial Plagues.
f) SAINTS STAND ON THE SEA OF GLASS
i) REVELATION 15:1-4 Then I [John] saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous: seven angels having the seven last plagues, for in them the wrath of God is complete. 2 And I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire, and those who have the victory over the beast, over his image and over his mark and over the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God. 3 They sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying: “Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints! 4 Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You, For Your judgments have been manifested.”
1) Saints will be resurrected before the vengeance of God is carried out and all mankind will see the salvation of the saints and God in His Temple:
a) ISAIAH 40:5 The glory of the LORD shall be revealed [from the heavenly Temple], and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”
b) ISAIAH 52:10 The LORD has made bare His holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
c) MATTHEW 24:30 “Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
d) LUKE 3:6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
e) LUKE 21:27-28 “Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads [to see], because your redemption draws near.”
f) REVELATION 1:7 Behold, He [Jesus Christ] is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.
g) TEMPLE OPENED AND ANGELS EMERGE TO POUR OUT THE SEVEN VIALS
i) REVELATION 15:5-8 After these things I [John] looked, and behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened. 6 And out of the temple came the seven angels having the seven plagues, clothed in pure bright linen, and having their chests girded with golden bands. 7 Then one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God who lives forever and ever. 8 The temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power, and no one was able to enter the temple till the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.
1) The Temple is opened (announced beforehand in Rev. 11:19) before the vials are poured out for all the earth to see God.
9) THE 7 VIAL PLAGUES
a) REVELATION 16:1 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go and pour out the bowls of the wrath of God on the earth.”
b) Vials #1 through #4 destroy the earth and Vials #5, #6, and #7 destroy Babylon.
c) VIAL PLAGUE #1—POURED UPON THE EARTH
i) REVELATION 16:2 So the first [angel] went and poured out his bowl upon the earth, and a foul and loathsome sore came upon the men who had the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image.
1) Grievous sores on those that have the mark of the beast.
d) VIAL PLAGUE #2—POURED UPON THE SEA
i) REVELATION 16:3 Then the second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it became blood as of a dead man; and every living creature in the sea died.
1) Kills all sea life.
e) VIAL PLAGUE #3—POURED UPON THE RIVERS AND SPRINGS
i) REVELATION 16:4-7 Then the third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood. 5 And I heard the angel of the waters saying: “You are righteous, O Lord, The One who is and who was and who is to be, because You have judged these things. 6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and You have given them blood to drink. For it is their just due.” 7 And I heard another from the altar saying, “Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are Your judgments.”
1) All fresh water (rivers, springs, aquifers) turned into blood and made undrinkable.
f) VIAL PLAGUE #4—POURED UPON THE SUN
i)
REVELATION 16:8-9 Then the fourth
angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and power [authority]
was given to him to scorch men with fire.
9 And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God
who has power [authority] over these plagues; and they did not
repent and give Him glory.
1) Scorches mankind with fire.
g) VIAL PLAGUE #5—POURED UPON THE KINGDOM OF THE BEAST
i) REVELATION 16:10-11 Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom became full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues because of the pain. 11 They blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and did not repent of their deeds.
1) Painful darkness upon the people of the kingdom of the beast.
h) VIAL PLAGUE #6—POURED UPON THE RIVER EUPHRATES
i) REVELATION 16:12-16 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. 13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon [Satan], out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. 15 “Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.” 16 And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon.
1) Euphrates dried up to make a way for the kings of the east.
2) Three frog demons come out of Satan, the Beast, and the False Prophet who gather the WHOLE WORLD (not just the kings of the east) to war against God.
i) VIAL PLAGUE #7—POURED INTO THE AIR
i) REVELATION 16:17-21 Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, “It is done!” 18 And there were noises and thunderings and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake as had not occurred since men were on the earth. 19 Now the great city [Babylon] was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And great Babylon was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath. 20 Then every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. 21 And great hail from heaven fell upon men, each hailstone about the weight of a talent [16” diameter and 50 pounds]. Men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, since that plague was exceedingly great.
1) An earthquake divides Babylon into three parts, destroys cities, causes islands to disappear, and levels mountains.
2) Fifty pound hail falls on mankind.
10) REVELATION 17—DESCRIPTION OF THE SCARLET WOMAN (BABYLON) ON A SCARLET BEAST WHO KILLS THE SAINTS.
11) REVELATION 18—DESCRIPTION OF THE FALL OF BABYLON.
12) vIAL pLAGUE #7—aRMAGEDDON, Satan & Demons Imprisoned
a) VIAL PLAGUE #7—JUDGMENT OF BABYLON
i) REVELATION 19:1-3 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God: 2 For true and righteous are His judgments: for He hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of His servants at her hand. 3 And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.
1) A warning of vengeance upon The Whore for the bloodshed of the saints.
b) THE MARRIAGE SUPPER
i) REVELATION 19:4-10 And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sat on the throne, saying, “Amen! Alleluia!” 5 Then a voice came from the throne, saying, “Praise our God, all you His servants and those who fear Him, both small and great!” 6 And I [John] heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! 7 “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” 8 And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. 9 Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’ “ And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.” 10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
c) VIAL PLAGUE #7—ARMAGEDDON: BEAST, FALSE PROPHET, & THEIR ARMY WAR AGAINST JESUS CHRIST
i) Preparations for this war were described in Revelation 16:12-16.
ii) REVELATION 19:11-21 Now I [John] saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. 15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. 17 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, “Come and gather together for the supper of the great God, 18 “that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great.” 19 And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. 20 Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone. 21 And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh.
d) VIAL PLAGUE #7—SATAN IMPRISONED
i) REVELATION 20:1-3 Then I [John] saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; 3 and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.
e) TABERNACLES—BEGINNING OF THE MILLENNIUM
i) REVELATION 20:4 And I [John] saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
1) Satan is imprisoned AFTER the Beast, False Prophet, and their army is defeated at the end of Vial #7 of Trumpet #7; therefore, he is not imprisoned during Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement).
13) Conclusion
a) While there is unheard of destruction as a result of the seven trumpets of the Day of Trumpets, it is also a day of victory for the saints and the world. Finally, the wicked are destroyed and the world gains a righteous Ruler who brings peace.
b) PSALMS 47:1-7 Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph! 2 For the LORD Most High is awesome; He is a great King over all the earth. 3 He will subdue the peoples under us, and the nations under our feet. 4 He will choose our inheritance for us, the excellence of Jacob whom He loves. Selah 5 God has gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet. 6 Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises! 7 For God is the King of all the earth; Sing praises with understanding.
14) May God’s grace and peace be upon you!
